About the brand

Bamboo Body was founded in 2005 by siblings Amanda and Elouise. While running a maternity clothing store in Brisbane, they struggled to find garments made from natural, air-permeable fabrics. Determined to find an alternative to synthetic materials, the sisters embarked on a quest for a fabric that was both breathable and comfortable to wear in the Queensland heat. After an extensive global search for a fabric that met their needs, the sisters were introduced to bamboo fabric, a relatively new material at the time.

They discovered that bamboo fabric was incredibly soft, breathable, and had a wonderfully flowing drape. Utterly captivated by this innovative fabric, Amanda and Elouise embarked on a journey of exploration to learn everything they could about bamboo fabric, the bamboo plant itself, and the state of the textile industry.
